Artists
Three artists
Czech Republic
Born 1953 in Kutná Hora. In 1987 he co-founded Tvrdohlaví, one of the central groups of Czech postmodernism, and from 2003 to 2010 he led the painting studio at UMPRUM in Prague. He paints in long series, on the edge between abstraction and sign; Barevná geometrie is built from fields of colour in acrylic.
Czech Republic
Born 1985 in Prague. He studied painting under Stanislav Diviš at UMPRUM in Prague, and co-founded the groups OBR, CLAN and FIRMA. His geometric abstraction joins classical modernism and architecture with the language of pop culture — graffiti, hip hop, break dance and computer games. He paints on unconventionally shaped canvases and also makes objects.
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Born 1971 in Jajce, Bosnia and Herzegovina; he lives and works in Prague. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo and then at UMPRUM in Prague. Since 2010 his focus has been the symbol — abstracted signs and geometric shapes. Flying Stones and Stone Sleepers draw on stećci, the medieval Bosnian tombstones, whose forms he veils under white cross-shaped bands so that the compositions resemble a labyrinth.
